We’ve all heard the saying, “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” but truly, judging a book by its cover is something we do constantly. When I’m shopping for books, the cover is usually what stands out initially. Covers tell us what type of book we’re reading, and everything from color schemes to geometric designs can influence our initial perception of a book.
Currently, I’m doing some research about how publishers choose their book covers, which I hope to write about in the coming weeks. For now, I thought it would be fun to share some books with really interesting, eye-catching covers. Just for something nice to look at.
Note: This is not a recommendation for any of the following books. I haven’t read many of them; I just think they look cool.
Barnes and Noble Collectible Editions
This copy of The Sabbath by Abraham Joshua Heschel
The cute, window-lit bookstore on the cover of The Diary of a Bookseller
Vintage editions of almost any book…
… but especially poetry collections
These rather scenic editions of Agatha Christie books
These sorted-by-color books and novels
These artfully arranged books with foliage and flowers.
These all-white editions of popular books
That’s all I’ve got for today. It’s a lazy fluff post, but it’s a pretty, lazy fluff post. Thanks for looking at some cool books with me.
